The 40th Jubilee was celebrated 20 and 21 November 2008
The Jubilee Show was performed at the Raye Freedman
Arts Centre, Epsom Girls Grammar School, Silver Road, Epsom.
Former and current students danced in the celebration. The show included
performances of dances from the school's previous Dance Revue shows, DVD
presentation of archive photos and videos, and a performance by senior and
former pupils. On the final night the current students presented Gayle with a
canvas containing archive photos from the very earliest years up to the present
day. Past Pupils presented Gayle with a "crown", sash and trophy which has
ballet, tap and jazz figurines depicting the three dance styles Gayle teaches.
It was a memorable occasion.

Forty years ago Gayle
Prescott opened her dance school in her parents converted double garage in Mt
Roskill. Today her students enjoy classes in 2 large dance studios in Lynfield.
Classes are conducted 6 days a week in Ballet, Tap and Jazz styles, from pre
school to advanced levels.. The dance school has a dancewear shop, changing
room, waiting area for parents, plus a costume and prop room. A far cry from
small beginnings.
Our registered teachers who always keep up to date with the latest trends, by
regularly attending workshops. Our teachers enjoy working with students of all
ages, encouraging them to strive for their best and recognising their
achievements. Many of her pupils have gone on to dance professionally both in
New Zealand and overseas. Students learn through participation in classes,
concerts and exams. Gayle feels it is important to give her students
opportunities to perform outside the studio, and her pupils have danced at
events including the Commonwealth Games Opening, Whitbread Round The World Race,
at the Americas Cup Village and many community events.
Experience The Joy of Dance - this is the emphasis for all students at Gayle
Prescott Dance School. Parents are encouraged to become involved and enjoy the
excitement of preparing for exams and concerts. The school stages an annual
performance, which is a highlight for every pupil and another wonderful chance
to perform on stage. Costumes, make-up, lights, camera, action!
